ANCHOR BOLTS ·
Foundation Bolts: types, differences and how to choose the right solution
How should foundation bolts be selected for a steel structure? The choice depends on the design loads, anchor geometry and adjustment requirements during installation. Hooked anchor bolts, hammer head configurations and adjustable systems respond to different project requirements and are not automatically interchangeable.
How to choose the most appropriate foundation bolt?
Use the following four criteria.
1. Loads and structural behaviour
Tensile loads, shear loads, moments and possible dynamic actions influence the selection of the anchoring system.
2. Geometry and anchoring conditions
The shape of the anchor bolt, embedment depth, concrete characteristics and base plate must be evaluated together.
3. Adjustment during installation
Where the project requires adjustment during installation, configurations with a metal sleeve (P3/P5) or a double adjustment system (P6) may be considered.
4. Dimensions and material
Diameter, length, thread and material properties must comply with the project specifications and environmental requirements.
Which foundation bolt configuration should be evaluated for different project requirements?
Once loads, geometry and installation conditions have been defined, the relevant Anchor Pro configurations can be identified for further evaluation.

These groupings support product orientation only. Final selection and connection design must be verified against the applicable project requirements.
Traditional hooked anchoring
P0 and P2 are umbrella-type hooked anchor bolts embedded in concrete. P0 is designed with 40D embedment, while P2 is supplied without a metal sleeve.
Hammer head with cross bar
P1 features a hammer head and a cross bar, providing a different anchoring geometry from the hooked configurations.
Adjustment during installation
P3 incorporates a metal sleeve, while P6 is configured for double adjustment. P5 combines a hammer head, metal sleeve and plate.
Hammer head anchoring
P4 and P5 use a shaped hammer head designed to work in combination with a steel U-profile. The head of the anchor bolt is positioned within the profile to create a mechanical anchoring system by bearing, enabling loads to be transferred to the anchoring assembly. P5 additionally incorporates a metal sleeve and plate.
Standardised geometries or custom production
P7 covers anchor bolt forms according to DIN 529. P8 covers custom anchor bolts with welded tongues manufactured according to the customer's drawing.
These indications are intended to support product orientation only. Final selection requires structural design of the connection and verification against the applicable project specifications.
Anchor Pro foundation bolts
The Anchor Pro P0–P8 range includes established configurations as well as custom-made solutions. The individual product pages provide the corresponding technical drawings and dimensional information.
The configuration and dimensions of each anchor bolt must follow the requirements defined by the technical department responsible for the project. Anchor Pro dimensional tables available on the individual product pages provide a practical reference for identifying configurations that may meet the project's requirements.
